The Comparator
System for Colorimetric Chemical Analysis
The
Comparator System is based on the following system components:

1. Comparator
instrument to bring the treated sample and the glass filters together for
color matching
2. Lighting unit
(optional) to ensure constant viewing conditions for color matching
3. Color grading disc
containing a series of glass filters which have been graded to give direct
concentration values
4. Sample container of
the required path length
¡@
Using the Comparator System 2000
1. Follow the test
method for sample preparation, adding the specified reagent to a known
volume of sample in the appropriate sample container
¡@
2. Insert the
test disc into the comparator instrument
¡@
¡@
¡@
¡@

3. Place the sample container in the right hand
comparator compartment, and, if specified in the test method, a cell
containing a blank of water or untreated sample in the left hand side
¡@

¡@
4. Using
standardized lighting, rotate the disc until the closest color match with
the sample is
obtained
¡@
¡@
5. The value will be
shown in the window in the comparator instrument.
¡@
Medical & Clinical Tests
1. Select the
appropriate test from the list below
2. Select the disc(s)
with the required measuring range
3. In addition to
the disc(s), it is necessary to use the comparator instrument, reagent and
glassware as listed
