Portable Non-Contact Flow Surveys

The flowmeter features advanced trans-phase measuring technology, providing accurate and reliable flow velocity assessments in closed piping systems. Utilizes a non-invasive, clamp-on transducer which is placed on the outside of a pipe. Within seconds, the large 0.7 LCD provides stable readings in feet per second or meters per second. This product operates on metal or plastic pipes containing liquids with greater than 100 ppm of suspended solids or entrained gases.

Will work on any solid pipe system (except copper or copper alloys) with at least 10 pipe diameters down-stream and five diameters upstream of flow disturbances

Mount transducer approximately  90XX from top of pipe, removing all rust, scale, and paint. Apply 1/8" of silicone grease (supplied) to the transducer face. Apply to pipe and take velocity measurements

Measure on pipe sizes down to 1/4"- liquid must have a velocity range of 0.3 to 30 FPS and a concentration of 100 ppm of particulates with a size of 30 microns or greater GPM = ft/sec x 2.448 x ID2 (inches)

Principles of Operation

Utilizes an advanced Trans-Phase measuring technique, providing accurate, non-invasive, fluid velocity assessment without opening the pipe. The UFX utilizes two piezoelectric crystals contained within one transducer to transmit ultrasonic energy into the fluid stream and receive reflective energy off discontinuities (suspended particles or entrained gases) within the moving liquid. Transformations that result from the energy reflections are processed and converted to fluid velocity by a sophisticated software algorithm. The processor also controls all operations of the instrument from its ultra efficient battery management circuitry to a proprietary FIR (Finite Impulse Response) filtration program.


Conversion from Velocity to Volume

Velocity readings can easily be converted to volumetric flow rate measurements such as GPM or LPM. A chart is included for most standard pipe sizes. For other line sizes, the conversion is:
